Miami International University of Art & Design has been a mainstay of higher education in the heart of Miami since its establishment in 1965, providing local, regional, national, and international students quality education in the arts. In January 2002, the University was acquired by The Art Institutes International Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Education Management Corporation, and a system of 29 educational institutions located in North America. EDMC has 65 primary campus locations in 24 states and two Canadian provinces.
