Beaches and Lifestyle
When one thinks of Miami, the name South Beach
immediately comes to mind, conjuring up images of suntanned
bodies and a high-energy night life. Due to the huge popularity
of South Beach, Miami attracts nearly 11 million tourists each
year. During the 50s and 60s, the South Beach area of Miami
Beach was renovated to the glamorous and stylish resort town
it is internationally known as today. In 1979, Miami Beach's
Art Deco District (an approximately one square mile area at
the tip of the island) was placed on the National Register of
Historic Places.
The world famous Ocean Drive is host to many award-winning
hotels, restaurants, and specialty boutiques sure to please
the most discriminating palate. Ocean Drive is the choice location
for many movie directors and hosts some of the hottest parties
in the coolest of settings. In the early morning,
visitors can often watch movie scenes being filmed and fashion
shoots taking place on this popular street. Lincoln Road is
another hotspot in South Beach for fine boutiques and cuisine.
Many of these businesses are closed for business in the morning,
often opening their doors after noon, but they all stay open
late to accommodate the booming nightlife. Be sure to check
out Ocean Drive and Lincoln Road while visiting South Beach.
South Beach is not only known for its sandy beaches and boutique
shopping; when the sun goes down, South Beach really begins
to heat up! This trendy Art Deco district of Miami Beach is
booming with clubs, nightlife, and international cuisine. For
anyone looking for the place to be seen and people watch
South Beach is the place to be!
